With millions of different listings at any given moment, there is a very good chance that you can save money on your everyday expenses by purchasing through eBay. All it takes is a little planning, budgeting, and patience.

Did you know your can purchase Postage Stamps on eBay? It’s true. You can receive savings up to 20% off the face value of the stamps and I think one of the best deals right now is the “Forever” stamps. Currently valued at 0.45 cents each – they are a bargain compared to what they will be worth in the future. Try bidding on auctions with a larger quantity of stamps for even bigger savings.

Why are stamps listed on eBay you wonder? Often, companies or individuals will purchase bulk stamps for a mailing and not use them all. Since the USPS will not buy back stamps, most people turn to eBay to sell their surplus. This means savings for you and me.

Get started and search for stamps now:

Go to BidDetective’s eBay Misspell Auction Tool here

Enter “stamps” (without the quotes) into the top open line

Click on the box next to “Without misspell” on the top right to include the correct spelling of “Stamps” in your search. Even if you don’t find misspelled auctions this time – you still want to purchase stamps at a discount!

Click on the Search button on the bottom

BidDetective’s eBay misspell search engine will filter through eBay’s auction titles searching for misspelled auction listings and return your results in a new browser window. Not all auctions contain misspelled words, but often, you will find the auction listings other shoppers miss.

Use your imagination – I’m sure you can think of other unique areas where you can save money by using eBay. Please post a comment below if you have any ideas or suggestions. By working together we can all benefit from sharing eBay shopping tips.

Until next time, happy auction hunting!

Disclosure – Compensation & Affiliations Notice

The Federal Trade Commission requires that we tell you about any relationship we may have with the products and/or services offered and/or reviewed on this website. We were going to tell you any way, but since they asked so nicely…

We operate this website as a business and our goal is to make money. One of the ways we do that is by using affiliate programs for monetization. You should assume that any product and/or service link you click will generate some cash for us (aka commissions credited to this website). Nothing hidden, no tricks, we’re in it for the money. It’s that simple.

Here are the guidelines we operate at Biddetective.com:

We are rarely paid to do a review. In almost all cases, we don’t accept money to review a product or service. We invest our own time to review and test products. We absorb all of the costs associated with the reviews we make. If we are ever paid to do a review, we will clearly disclose it at the end of the review.

When we test products or services – we don’t pay for them. They are sent to us by the manufacturer. Rarely do we request these products or services. In almost all cases, the product or service owner approaches us first via a press release or a phone call. If we feel it’s something you might get a kick out of, then we request they send us the product or provide us with the service for free.

When we’re finished using the product for whatever reason (like writing a review) – we keep it. We just don’t have the time or energy to return it. Sorry.

If we supply a link to a product or service in a review, we might get paid a commission if you click on it. We’ll disclose that to you too. And if you don’t see anything about it being a paid link, we aren’t making any money on it. Either way, we’ll try and let you know what’s up.

If you click on a link from the website (or newsletter) and it takes you to another website (like eBay or Amazon), then we are probably making a small commission whenever you buy a product or service there. Thank you.

Since you’ve read this far, we would also like to disclose that Biddetective.com does not sell any products directly. All website income is earned from affiliations and sponsor ads.

We have affiliations and/or participate in marketing programs with, but not limited to, Google Inc., eBay Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Commission Junction Inc., Clickbank, and more. These companies pay us commissions when you click on their links. Thank you for this too.

And by the way, those text and image ads that appear throughout the website are 3rd party (Google Adsense) and sponsored ads. We do not personally endorse the products and services advertised in these ads and these companies are not affiliated with Biddetective.com.

One last thing, this website is sponsored, created, and/or supported by a company, organization or group of organizations. If you have any questions about any affiliations on this website, please don’t hesitate to contact us at webmaster@biddetectice.com. We will be happy to clarify or provide additional details if necessary.

See, we’re not trying to hide anything from you. We think it’s important that you, as a consumer, know of any relationship between us and the products/or services we are reviewing or that you’re accessing from our website. Isn’t that nice? We think other websites should disclose things too. It’s the law.

Disclosure – Privacy Policy

Your privacy is just as important to us as it is to you

Because we take it so seriously, we’ve written this notice so that you understand our online information practices and what choices you can make regarding how your information is collected and utilized.

We want you to have a great experience on our website, which includes adding interactive or personalizing content. We may use Personally Identifiable Information (including your name, e-mail address, street address, and/or telephone number) to identify you, subject to the terms of this privacy policy. But, we want you to know that we will never sell, rent, or barter your email address to any unauthorized third party. Ever.

How do we gather information?

Our data collection methods can change depending on the page that you’re are visiting and/or what activities your doing while on this website. For example, if you want to receive our newsletter, then you will need to tell us who you are and where you want us to send it (this is considered Personally Identifiable Information and this is one of the ways we use it). You might provide personal information when you participate in blog commenting, authoring posts, forums, contests, emailing us, or on other portions of our website.

Like other websites, Biddetective.com may collect information from you automatically when you visit our website without you even knowing it. We can do this through the use of cookie technology.

What’s cookie technology you ask? It’s not a tasty baked good usually shared with a glass of milk. In this case, cookie technology refers to a small text file (cookie) that is sent by us to you and then returned by you to us every time you visit our website. This cookie stores information about you and can be used for visitor authentication purposes, session tracking, and/or for maintaining certain information about our website visitors. If you really want to know more, here’s a link to a wiki article explaining more about cookies:

Some of the information this cookie might share includes data to recognize you, to track and store information about your visit to this website, or it might control the amount of and/or type of advertising that is displayed to you during your visit. We also want you to know that we may use new technologies to track even more information about you whenever and wherever we can. Yes, we like you and want to know about you.

You might not know this, but you can control cookie information. By adjusting your computers web browser security settings to refuse cookies, you can block these cookies in the first place. You should also know that by refusing cookies, you might make certain portions of our website unusable, or you may be repeatedly asked to enter your user name and password, or we may not be able to customize any of our websites features for you. Just so you know, the data we collect is usually harmless, but it’s your choice on whether to share it or not.

So what do we do with all of this information stuff?

I know it sounds like we’re spying on you – and we are – but only just a little. We need to know this stuff so that we can build a better website. We want to make your experience visiting us more enjoyable by delivering more individual content and/or advertising tailored specifically for you. But don’t worry – we will make reasonable efforts to keep your information secure and not share it with anyone unless we need to.

Just so you know, most of information we collect is called Aggregated Information. This type of information is a combination of all of our visitor information piled together and it does not personally identify you (or anyone). We really like this information because it lets us know cool stuff like which web pages views, how long visitors stayed a specific page, or which features our visitors liked the most. Knowing this information lets us provide more of the good stuff you want.

Since Aggregated Information does not personally identify any of our website visitors (including you) we may occasionally share this information with our advertisers and business partners. Again, this information does not include any Personally Identifiable Information about you or allow anyone to identify you individually so you have nothing to worry about.

By the way, we only collect your Personal Identifiable Information when you give it to us. Some of the ways we use this information include, but are not limited to responding to your inquiries, providing excellent customer service, resolving complaints, fixing technical problems, processing transactions, administering contests, administering this websites Terms of Use, or through other communications like marketing stuff we think you might like. But don’t worry; we will only use your information only as permitted by law. You should also know that as we continue to develop our business, we may buy, sell, merge, or partner with other companies or businesses and your user information may be among the transferred assets. Your information may also be disclosed in compliance with any applicable law and/or regulation including government officials and agencies or when we think it’s necessary to do so. When this happens, we probably won’t let you know before disclosing the information.

3rd party websites and other stuff we can’t control

Bidetective.com expects our partners, affiliates, and advertisers to respect your privacy too. However, these 3rd parties (and/or other content providers) may have their own set of rules for privacy and data collection. We strongly suggest you read the privacy policy of any website you are about to share your Personally Identifiable Information on (including websites accessed thought this websites links, advertising, contests, or other features). Because these are 3rd parties (and stuff we don’t own), we are not responsible for anything bad that may happen to you. You’ve been warned so don’t call us about it.

While we’re on the subject of Personally Identifiable Information, you should also know that by accessing this website, some of our partners, affiliates, and advertisers may use their own cookies (or other technology) to track you, identify your preferences, and/or retrieve information about you. We can’t control this stuff either (because it’s also not ours) so we’re not responsible for anything bad that might happen to you or the data they collected. Sorry, out of our hands.

Google Adsense and the DoubleClick DART Cookie

Google, as a 3rd party advertisement vendor and they use cookies to serve ads on this site. The use of DART cookies by Google enables them to serve adverts to visitors that are based on their visits to this website as well as other sites on the internet.

To opt out of the DART cookies you should visit the Google ad and content network privacy policy website. Tracking of users through the DART cookie mechanisms are subject to Google’s own privacy policies.

Have we mentioned common sense yet?

If you voluntarily disclose your personal information on any comment, post, article, message board, forum, or anywhere else you could possibly mange to leave your personal information, that information can be potentially viewed by everyone in the world. The information can be collected and used by people we don’t even know, without our knowledge, and may result in you received unsolicited messages or other bad stuff we don’t condone. There is nothing we can do about this since its way out of our control and beyond the scope of this policy. Use your head and act responsibly with your personal information.

Children under 13

We like kids, but Biddetective.com does not knowingly collect Personally Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13, except as permitted by law. If we discover that a child under the age of 13 has provided Personally Identifiable Information to us (in accordance with the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPA) – refer to the Federal Trade Commission website), we will delete the child’s Personally Identifiable Information from our files to the extent technologically possible.

You can reach us at: webmaster@biddective.com

Privacy Policy updates

We are allowed to change this policy (and anything else on this website) at anytime without letting you know. If we do make changes to this policy, then you are bound by those new policies too. Any information we may have collected prior to a policy change will continue to be used according to the rules you agreed to at the time of data collection. If you’re worried about policy changes, then we suggest you visit this page often and re-read it for the latest privacy rules.

Disputes and other legal stuff

If a problem does arise and legal recourse is the only answer, we will both follow these rules:

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, without regard to principles of conflict of laws.

To the extent you have in any manner violated or threatened to violate Biddetective.com and/or its affiliates’ intellectual property rights, Biddetective.com and/or its affiliates may seek injunctive or other appropriate relief in any state or federal court in the State of Nevada, and you consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in such courts.

Any other disputes will be resolved as follows:

If a dispute arises under this agreement, we agree to first try to resolve it with the help of a mutually agreed-upon mediator in the following location: Clark County, Nevada. Any costs and fees other than attorney fees associated with the mediation will be shared equally by each of us.

If it proves impossible to arrive at a mutually satisfactory solution through mediation, we agree to submit the dispute to binding arbitration at the following location: Clark County, Nevada, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Judgment upon the award rendered by the arbitration may be entered in any court with jurisdiction to do so.

If all of this sounds mean or foreboding, you should have seen what our lawyers wanted to print! And by the way, if you can’t agree to these rules, then you need to go to another website. Nothing personal, but we can’t have you here.

This site is all about learning how to purchase from eBay and save money in your budget doing it. Before making a bid on an auction, research exactly what you’re bidding on, know who the seller is, and understand how eBay and PayPal can protect you in case it of trouble.
Research your item before you bid…

• Look in your local market and determine how much the item is in your area.
• Be sure to include deliver charges in your bid amount. Does the seller include insurance? If the item is expensive – this would be a wise investment.
• Read the auction details carefully to determine exactly what you are bidding on.
• If you’re not sure what is being offered – contact the seller by clicking on the “ask seller a question” link to get the specific answers you need before you bid.
• Never pay for your winning auctions through instant cash wire services like Western Union or Money Gram. These payments are not covered under eBay buyer protection. PayPal is the safest choice for payments and offers great buyer protection.
• Always purchase through eBay using a bid, buy it now, or best offer button. Purchases made by arrangement outside of eBay are not covered by buyer protection programs either.

Know who the seller is before you bid…

• Is this someone you want to do business with? What is the feedback rating? Is it positive? How many transactions have they completed as a seller?
• What are some of the negative comments? Was it the seller’s fault or the buyers? Sometimes buyer’s can be unreasonable in their expectations.
• What are the positive comments? Do you see a consistent pattern of good seller practices? Does this sound like someone you want to deal with?
• What are the policies of the auction? Are there any special terms and conditions you need to be aware? Do they offer a full money return?

Problems can happen but eBay and PayPal have built-in protection to help you…

• eBay wants you to have a safe and secure transaction. They have developed lots of tips and information for you.
• Visit the eBay Security & Resolution Center to learn how to protect your rights and use the eBay claim tools.
• PayPal offers buyer protection on purchases up to $2,000, sellers do not see your financial information, and you’ll receive 100% protection against unauthorized payments from your account.

Do you want to receive 10%, 20% or more off your eBay purchases? Here’s an easy way to get on the “list” to receive these discount codes (aka redemption codes) directly from eBay.

First, logon to your eBay account. Not a member of eBay? Scroll down to the bottom for more information.

Next, click on the “My eBay” button on the top of the page.

Then click on the “Notification Preferences” link on the left hand side navigation bar, under the “My Account” heading.

The preference you want to set is the very last one titled “Promotions and Surveys.” Click on the “Show” link and you will be shown five subscription options. You want to make sure that the second subscription, “General Email Promotions” and the fourth subscription “Postage Mail Catalogs and Promotions” are checked to receive discount codes.

When you subscribe to “General Email Promotions” you will receive email about what’s new and hot on eBay, along with great deals, special events, discount coupons, and additional special offers. The “Postage Mail Catalogs and Promotions” subscription will put you on the list to mailed (yes, go ole’ U.S. snail mail) catalogs, coupons, seller hotlists, holiday sales planners and newsletters.

If you are an active seller on eBay, I recommend you also subscribe to the “Seller Email Promotions.” This subscription will send you email about seller specials like fee and listing discounts, selling tips and other ways to get started selling or how to get more fro selling on eBay.

Once you’ve checked your subscription boxes be sure to click the “Save” button on the bottom. Be aware, eBay will not give you coupons right away but you WILL receive coupons eventually. You can thank me later.

Registration for eBay is fast, easy and best of all free! CLICK HERE to get started saving money now.

When a seller lists an item for sale on eBay, the eBay directory stores that item by the auction title. If the seller misspells or creates a typo in the auction title, guess what happens… no one can find the auction listing. Right now there are literally 1,000′s of misspelled or typo’ed auction listings on eBay that will either go unsold or for very little money.

BidDetective’s eBay MisSpell Search Engine takes your keyword and then performs a complete search of eBay’s auctions for the various misspellings of your keyword. The results will open a new eBay auction window for you ready to place a bid. You can even filter your search to get exactly the results you want, but more on that in one minute.

Safe, secure, free from spyware and computer viruses, nothing to download or install, and best of all – it’s FREE! BidDetective’s eBay MisSpell Search Engine is also simple to use. Let’s try it right now and I will walk you through the steps to saving money on eBay auctions.
Click here to open the MisSpell Search Engine. Don’t worry; this link will open in a new window so you can continue reading here while performing your search in the new page.

Step 1: The very first open white line (top) is where you will enter your search keywords.

BidDetective's eBay MisSpell Search Engine | this is the search field - enter your keyword here

Step 2: Click on this line with your mouse and type in the correct spelling of your search term. The search engine will return better results for if you only enter one word at time. For my example, I will search for a Sony Playstation.

Step 3: Click the “SEARCH” button located in the bottom left hand corner. That’s it.

Once you click search, a new web page will automatically open from eBay’s safe and secure website displaying all of the misspelled auction bargains ready for you to bid. It always amazes me how many misspelled auctions there are… Can you imagine 124 misspelled playstation games, systems, accessories, etc. at the time of this search. You could even buy these and re-list them correctly to make extra money!

BidDetective's eBay MisSpell Search Engine | here is the results from my playstation search

The eBay MisSpell Search Engine can also perform a narrow targeted search to locate those hard-to-find misspelled auction bargains. Here are some of the specific search options:

If you only want to search for your item – without searching the typos or misspelled eBay listings, then click on the box next to “Without misspell”

Would you like to search an eBay auction site other than the United States? Bid Detective’s eBay MisSpell Search Engine can also search the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium-Fr or Belgium-NL, Hong Kong, or India eBay auctions. It’s easy, just click on the down arrow next to “United States” and move your mouse to select the country site you do want to search.

Similar to eBay’s more advanced search options, you can also decide if you want to limit or filter your search to auctions. Simply click on the box in front of each filter to limit your results.

Choose if you want to limit your search to auctions ending within 1, 2, 5, or 12 hours.
Limit your search to PayPal only auctions.
Expand your eBay MisSpell search to include the auctions’ title and description fields.
Decide if you want to exclude certain words or terms to narrow your results.
Decide if you want to “Include Original Word” in your search results.
You can even set your search criteria to include minimum and maximum Bid Prices or Auction Prices.

After you have set your search filters and you are ready for to perform a misspelled auction search, click on the “SEARCH” button in the lower left-hand corner.

If you have any questions or suggestions with the eBay MisSpell Search Engine, please leave a comment below and I will try to answer all of your questions as soon as possible.

Disclosure – Terms of Use

You’re actually reading this!

That’s a good thing because this page contains important stuff like the rules for using this website. We wish we didn’t have to have rules but our lawyers made us include them. They wanted this to be a lot more formal, but that’s not how we work. We took the legal jargon they wrote and translated it into English for you. Do the right thing… read the page, obey the rules, and you won’t be getting into legal problems of your own.

Here are the basics:

Be nice.

We created and operate this website so that people like you (and us) can use it for their own personal entertainment, education, information, and/or communication. You are free to browse around as much as you like. You can even download stuff wherever we offer a “download” link but only for your own personal use and definitely not for any commercial purpose. If you do download something, please don’t fool around with the copyright or any other notices on the stuff – we have it there for a reason. If you thought about distributing, modifying, reusing, re-posting, transmitting or anything else that’s not nice with any of our stuff including the text, images, audios, and/or videos (for public or commercial purposes) – don’t do that either. What we’re saying is, do not use anything on this website without our written permission.

If you decide to visit our website, you are legally bound by the terms and conditions listed below and any other laws or regulations that apply to you visiting this website or using the Internet, including any local, state or federal regulations which may apply. By visiting this website you are agreeing to our rules and if you don’t want to follow them, you should go somewhere else and not use this website.

These are the rules for using this website:

1. Just assume everything on this website is copyrighted unless we tell you it’s not. That means you can’t use any of the stuff on the website (except for where we say you can) without our written permission. You probably shouldn’t even ask us if you can use something because our lawyers will probably say “no” to your request.

2. All of the content of this website (including the images, text, audios, videos, software, website code, or anything else) is either our property or someone else’s and we’re using it with their permission. Just because we’re using it doesn’t make it your property and you (or your friends) are not allowed to use it unless we say you can in writing. Be smart and play nice – unauthorized use may violate local, state, and/or federal laws and we don’t want you to get into any trouble.

3. All of the logos, trademarks, and/or service marks on this website are also our property or someone else’s and we’re using them with their permission. And just because we’re using them doesn’t give you any kind of license or right to use them too. You don’t have a right to use them and we’re not about to give you one either (and neither will the companies that own the other logos, trademarks, and/or service marks). Again, be smart and play nice – leave them alone or we’ll get mad at you. That means we will have our lawyers take legal action or have them request prosecutor’s to take legal action against you. Does that sound serious? You bet – it’s our stuff and we will come after you for messing around any of our property or any of the property of others.

4. We try to be as accurate as possible when adding content to the website – but we’re not perfect. That means that as much as we would like to be accurate all of the time – we may not be. Just so you totally understand, we’re not going to make any promises to you regarding this website and if you’re using this website, you’re doing so at your own risk. We also assume no responsibility or liability for any errors or omissions on this website.

5. Anybody who has helped create, produce, code, or worked on this website in any way (including us or our parent company) are not liable for any damages you may suffer as a result from your using the website or accessing any of the features (services, software, downloads, 3rd party offers, or whatever else we have) available on the website. Our lawyers want you to know that our disclaimer includes “direct, indirect, consequential, incidental, or punitive damages arising out of your access to, or use of, the site. Without limiting the foregoing, everything on the site is provided to you ‘AS IS’ WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON INFRINGEMENT.”

You should be aware that some jurisdictions might not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you. You will need to check your local laws for any restrictions or limitations regarding the exclusion of implied warranties. To put it as simply as possible for you: we’re not responsible for anything that happens to you. If you’re browsing around and the site damages you or your computer or infects it with any nasty viruses – you can’t blame us! We don’t want anything bad to happen to you, but if it does, consider yourself warned and don’t call us.

6. Seriously, if you don’t want the world to know something then don’t post it anywhere on the Internet (that includes this website). If you do decide to publish anything on this website then we consider that a gift. You are giving it to us and it’s ours to keep for free forever – Thank you. Because you gave it to us and it’s now ours, that also means we can do anything we want with it including reproducing it as many times as we want, distributing it to whomever we choose, modifying it however we want, reusing it however we want, re-posting it someplace else, transmitting to anyone we want or anything else that we can think of that we didn’t cover here. And since it’s ours, we can even use any of your ideas, concepts, techniques, or know-how any way we want. That includes using it to develop, manufacture, market, and/or sell any products or other stuff arising from the information you published.

7. We try to offer you as much content as possible. That means we might provide links to other (3rd party) websites that we think are cool and offer something that we think you will like. As thorough as we try to be, don’t assume we have looked at any of those websites closely – we haven’t (we just don’t have enough time to do everything we would like to do). And you can forget about us checking those links periodically – we don’t do that either. We want you to be aware of this just in case there is bad stuff on any of those websites or there’s something on one of them that might offend you. You can decide for yourself if you want to click a link or not, but be aware that you are doing so at your own risk. Don’t blame us if anything bad happens because of your actions.

8. Regarding the content on this website. We occasionally read the comments posted by visitors in our blog, look at the postings in our discussion groups or forum, or read the articles posted by contributing authors, but we take no responsibility and/or assume any liability for their content. This includes, but is not limited to, any mistakes, libel, slander, defamation, errors, omissions, falsehoods, pornography, obscenity, hatred, or profanity that your may encounter when you visit this website. Just because we said that, don’t think you can do something that isn’t nice and post or transmit unlawful, threatening, libelous, slanderous, defamatory, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic, false, nasty, mean, or profane material on this website. That includes any material that law enforcement may consider a criminal offense, provoke a civil lawsuit, or for that matter violate any law — anywhere, anytime. You should also know that while we respect your privacy, we have no choice but to fully cooperate with any law enforcement authority or court which might ask us who posted bad stuff on our website.

9. We are also allowed to change this page (and anything else on this website) at anytime without letting you know. If we do make changes to this page, then you are bound by those new rules too. If you’re worried about it, then we suggest you visit this page often and re-read it for the latest terms of use or your entertainment.

Bottom line, don’t do anything wrong and we’ll all get along. If you can’t play by these rules then you need to go to another website because we only want nice people here. Thank you for understanding.
